The Million Dollar Challenge

Capital Campaign Announces  Million Dollar Challenge!

The Aquatic Center Capital Campaign is off to an exciting start with a $1,000,000 matching challenge pledged by the Kamphefner Family.  For every personal donation received we will match that amount up to a total of $1 million. Says Rex Kamphefner, “I’m hoping this will encourage folks to dig a little deeper when making their contributions. The more they donate, the more I will match.”

“I used to be a runner, but turned to swimming thanks to my kids. It’s hard to hang out for hours at a swim meet and not want to jump in,” notes Kamphefner. “Of all the people I’ve hung out with in my life, I find that Del Oro and Loomis Basin Dolphin families are just the best—hard working, upbeat, and generous people with good values. I’m just so pleased to be a part of such a community and to have my children grow up here. I’ve lived all over the world, and so appreciate the values that our kids learn at the pool and Del Oro High School. It’s hard to find elsewhere. The current pool has been around 40 years, and it’s just shot. I want to do all I can to ensure another 40 years’ worth of good kids like the ones that we’re all so proud of right now. I’m sorry that we can’t do it all, but my family will give the pool project a big hard push if you will.”

Refer to our website, http://www.deloroaquaticcenter.com/ for donation information. You can donate via PayPal or by sending a check directly to the Placer Union High School District in Auburn, attention Anne Evans.

Remember that EVERY donation is appreciated and important. Furthermore, if you ask your friends and neighbors to help out, we will achieve our goals even more quickly. The current facility was built in this very way; we can do it again for our children and our community.

July Update

Summer News

It’s summertime—the Dolphins are having a great season, town open swim and swim lessons are underway, and Del Oro water polo teams are using every extra minute of pool time they can get as they prepare for their fall competitive schedule. There is no still water from 7:15 a.m. to 9 p.m! I think we need more pool space!

We are in the news! Look for an article in Loomis News this week! We also had a live interview that was broadcast on cable Broadband TV. You can see the clip on YouTube at this address: www.youtube.com/wavesacramento.  If you haven’t done so already, “Friend” us on Facebook at Friends of the Del Oro Pool! Additionally, we will have a booth at the Thursday Family Fun Fest in Loomis on August 4 and 11.

Did you know that Pasta Pomodoro has already donated over $1,200 thanks to our Pool Partner program? Make sure to check out the "partners" tab on the website: http://www.deloroaquaticcenter.com/ and patronize Pasta Pomodoro and all the other generous businesses that are contributing to the new Del Oro Aquatic Center.

When is the next fundraiser? Glad you asked! It’s Saturday, August 27. There will be a golf tournament at Lincoln Hills followed by a silent auction dinner at the Blue Goose. Both of these events are Del Oro senior projects. You can attend either or both. Please contact Ryllie Haynes (916) 663-4072 or del_oro_babe04@yahoo.com for tickets. Cost to golf and dine is $100 per person. Dinner only is $35 or $60 per couple. You can sponsor a reserved table for 10 for $500. Silent auction contributions are also appreciated.

The million dollar challenge is on! However, without your personal contributions, the pledge has nothing to match. EVERY DONATION MATTERS! Send your tax-deductible contributions to the PUHSD, attention of Anne Evans, and cite the Del Oro Pool Fund.

The formal mailing address for the PUHSD is:
