The Junior Council of The Friends of the Del Oro Pool
Announces a 24-Hour Swim A Thon
To benefit the New Del Oro Aquatic Center
Saturday, April 21 at 8:00 am until Sunday, April 22, at 8:00 am
The goal: to have at least one swimmer in lanes 1-4 for the entire swim-a-thon. Lanes five and six will be devoted to Heidi Walker, who will be swimming an incredible 24 hours with minimal breaks each hour to refuel and check in with her support team. She estimates that by the time she is done she will have swum at least 35 miles!
Walker is currently the head coach of the Loomis Basin Dolphins swim team. She started her swimming career with the Dolphins and competed on the Del Oro varsity team from 1989-1993. “I am doing this fundraiser because I want to help this wonderful town that I grew up in and what better way than to dive in and swim for 24 hours.”
Ø Each swimmer will receive a “JUMP IN” swim cap, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance.
Ø Swimmers who bring $25 in pledges will receive a T-shirt, and for every $20 increment thereafter, they get a raffle ticket for more prizes. The swimmer raffle grand prize is a new iPad, also donated by Nationwide.
Ø Pasta Pomodoro of Roseville will be serving up dinner on Saturday night.
Ø West Coast Swim Shop of Folsom will be on hand for last minute goggle and swim suit needs.
Ø Taylors will donate 20% on meals and milkshakes all weekend to customers bringing in an event flyer.
Ø There will be a snack bar and other vendors on deck.
Sign up to swim for as little as 15 minutes!
