How Close Are We?
The capital campaign is only two years old and we are coming
down the home stretch towards our goal of breaking ground on Phase I! By
current accounting, we expect to have over $2.4 million committed to
start construction by early December or before. That includes the “million
dollar match,” the contribution from the Town of Loomis, and a significant
corporate pledge. By prior estimates, this should have been enough to break
ground. However, due to additional accessibility requirements from the state
board of architects that must approve all construction projects on campus, we
are still about $250,000 short of our goal. What does that mean? It means:
1. We will not be breaking ground until after the Del Oro
water polo season.
2. We still need
donations. We are asking everyone to donate what they can, and ask at least
5 friends to do the same.
4. We are sharpening our pencils and cutting costs to meet
an achievable budget.
5. We are looking for “in kind” donations, especially for
fencing, concrete, and grading.
6. Our goal is within reach, but we need everyone to
pull together in the next few months to make it happen. Please send in your
donation (PayPal is available on our website: www.deloroaquaticcenter.com) or
let us know how you can help TODAY! Contact us at friendsofthedopool@gmail.com.
Calling All LBD Alumni!
This Saturday, July 20, will be the last dual meet of the
Loomis Basin Dolphins season before Champs. More significantly, it will be the last
home meet in the old pool! We are calling alumni swimmers and parents to
come cheer on our swimmers as they race against Park Terrace, and join in the
special festivities including a 50/50 raffle, a Pool Jam sale, and fun relays
during and at the end of the meet. We will have donation forms available if you
still haven’t purchased your brick or tile for the new pool. See you on deck!
Basketball Tournament!
Greg and Stephanie Hoffman are hosting their fourth annual
basketball tournament fundraiser on Sunday, August 18 from 8:30 am to 7:00
pm. This year it will benefit the new pool fund! A minimum donation of $25
provides you with a tax deductible donation & a day full of food, drinks,
music, swimming, and great memories. You are welcome to drop by or spend
a few hours. Due to liability concerns we respectfully require Adults
Only for this event. Games will be running from approximately 8:30 am-6
pm so stop by anytime. Checks can be made out to: PUHSD/Del Oro Aquatic
Center. Please RSVP by 8/14 to Greg so we can plan food and beverage
accordingly: 916-275-0783. The Hoffman home is located at 2850 Taylor Rd,
